As a parent, you want the very best for your child\u2014especially when it comes to nutrition. You may have noticed that we now offer the Mighty<\/strong> Multivitamin<\/strong>, labeled from age 1 through adults. Some customers have wondered what the main differences are between this and the previous option for children, the Mini Multivitamin. There are a few different nutrient ratios in the Mighty Multi, so let’s look at these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s the Difference Between NRV, and SUL?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before we get into the specifics, here\u2019s what those label terms actually mean:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NRV (Nutrient Reference Value)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Used on supplement labels in the UK and EU.
\u2022 Based on adult requirements.
\u2022 100% NRV means it meets the average adult daily intake required for an adult to avoid deficiency.
\u2022 Exceeding the NRV for most nutrients is safe and often even beneficial, up until the SUL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUL (Safe Upper Limit)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 The maximum safe daily intake of a nutrient.
\u2022 Going above this occasionally isn\u2019t necessarily harmful, but long-term high doses of certain nutrients could cause side effects.
\u2022 Based on long-term studies in children and adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is the Mighty Multivitamin just as safe and effective as the Mini Multivitamin?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We analysed the higher strength Mighty Multivitamin based on a child\u2019s age:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We found that the nutrients contained in the Mighty Multivitamin, when scaled down to these age brackets, land well within the safe and effective range for younger children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the nutrient quantities contained in these scaled-down servings of the Mighty Multivitamin are very similar to those contained in the Mini Multivitamin, with one particularly significant difference: the ratio of B-vitamins to other nutrients is higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B-vitamins are extremely beneficial to growing children. These are water-soluble nutrients, meaning any excess is excreted via urine. There\u2019s no known risk of toxicity at the levels present in our product\u2014even at full adult doses, let alone reduced ones. The only B-vitamin contained in the Mighty Multivitamin that has an established safe upper limit value (SUL) is vitamin B6, and that limit is in the range 30mg-60mg, whereas our dose is <2mg.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kids under stress, during growth spurts, or with gut issues often notice a variety of benefits from increased B vitamin intake. Whereas the Mini Multivitamin was more about checking boxes and making sure minimum nutrient levels for avoiding deficiency were obtained, this new approach involving higher B vitamin intake is expected to yield noticeable benefits for most of our customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two nutrients appearing in slightly lower doses are vitamin A and folate. UPDATE: <\/strong>we are currently reformulating the Mighty Multivitamin with this in mind, as many parents expressed a desire to keep these 2 at higher supplementary diet. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only other nutrient appearing in slightly lower doses is vitamin C, but we always recommend combining any multivitamin with our liposomal vitamin C<\/a><\/strong>, as this is one nutrient that can be especially beneficial in amounts well above the NRV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What We Recommend<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 For everyday use, you can confidently give your child the listed serving of the Mighty Multivitamin based on our suggested age groups. *Important to note:<\/strong> if you have only ONE child in the youngest age bracket (1-3) this provides 100 servings but bottles should not be open for more than 2 months. We are working on a solution for this! 
\u2022 Always use your parental intuition and make adjustments based on your child\u2019s unique needs.
\u2022 If in doubt, chat with a nutritional therapist or GP who understands the value of liposomal delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
